Disconnected
A digital experience that aims to expand the viewer’s sense of time—our only true luxury—through the very medium that may be causing their everyday stresses…the screen.
As a result of my thesis, where I explored the relationship between the screen and ourselves, I created a space that acts as a rehabilitation centre for the everyday person that finds themselves addicted to their screen.
The immersive experience encourages the nonuse of our devices, where the participant is guided by a setting sun with atmospheric sounds of solitude.
In an age of acceleration, nothing can be more exhilarating than going slow. And in an age of distraction, nothing is so luxurious as paying attention. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is so urgent as sitting still.

I’ve always found myself most grateful during a sunset.
Through my research into the relationships we have with ourselves—and others—through the screen, I found a common thread of anxiety and depression. The constant overload of content we consume contributes to the common inadequacies we feel everyday. Though total detoxification from our screens is ideal, the reality is that the screen is one of the most accessible things we have. Knowing this, I created an experience that brings the peace of a sunset to the palm of your hands—a space that carves out a piece of time and expands it for you to experience the present moment.

Are You Satisfied Yet?
As we walk with our phones in hand, consumed endlessly, we are stopped by this graffiti message asking ‘are you satisfied yet?’ as you’re deep in the digital void.
This is the Brave New World…where the Internet is our Soma, and disconnection is our lighthouse.
